PRODUCTION FEES:

• In an effort to streamline the financial components of Courtyard, we are making a few changes this year. Whether you are new to Courtyard or have participated in the past, we hope that this section will explain the changes as well as provide a variety of options from which each family may choose to best meet your needs. All fees (including t-shirt fees, fundraising fees, and those fees formerly referred to as tuition) will be consolidated into one total cost this year which will be referred to as “Production Fees” from this point forward.

• If your student is selected, Production Fees will be $600/student for cast members and $300/student for tech members. Each family will have the following options for payment:

o Option 1--Production fees may be paid in full upon selection. This option includes a $50 discount for cast (making it a one-time payment of $550) and a $25 discount for tech (making it a one-time payment of $275).

o Option 2--Production fees may be paid in installments with the first half due no later than AUGUST 13, 2026 and the remainder due no later than DECEMBER 3, 2026.

o Option 3--Production fees may be paid in six equal payments for the months of July-December 2026. For example, the payment would be $100/month for six months for a cast member or $50/month for six months for a tech member. This option will include monthly automated reminders through Managed Missions (our communication portal).

• There will be no fundraiser participation requirement this year. If a student wishes to obtain donations to Courtyard from third party individuals or organizations, that student’s production fees will be reduced dollar for dollar, and contribution receipts may be provided upon request for the donor’s tax records. (In other words, if you so choose, you can individually fundraise any or all of your production fees.)

• Courtyard is a true not-for-profit organization, and no one receives any financial compensation, so your production fees get stretched as far as we can to cover many things! Just to name a few…
-Rental cost of any venues used for rehearsals, performances, Tony Awards, etc.
-Licensing fees for our musicals (the fee to use copyrighted material)
-Show t-shirts and tech shirts
-Microphone rentals
-Costumes…fabulous costumes!
-Materials needed to build fantastic sets
-Storage
-Lighting
-Graphic design
-Website management
-Rental vehicles to transport sets
-Tony Awards/Cast Party
-Playbills for each show
-Backdrops and projections
-Liability insurance
-Background checks
-Managed Missions fees
-ROCS (Right On Cue) backing tracks
-And so much more!!!

• If your student would like to take ownership in contributing to their production fees, here are some creative ideas that they could choose from over the next six months:
-babysitting for donations
-washing cars
-mowing lawns
-weeding or mulching flowerbeds
-selling homemade bread or baked goods
-selling crafts or art work
-teaching lessons in a skill to younger students-musical instrument, art, dance, photography, sports, etc.
-personal shopping services for Christmas or groceries
-preparing and selling freezer meals
-pre-selling gifts for holidays/birthdays such as singing telegrams (Hello! This group can SING!), gift baskets, flower arranging or delivery, house cleaning services, mother’s helper services.
-baking and selling pies for Thanksgiving
-Christmas gift wrapping services

We suggest teaming up with other Courtyard members to do any of the above with friends! Friends make everything more fun!

ACING YOUR AWESOME AUDITION:
• Film landscape, not portrait
• Use plain background
• Quiet space, not outside noise
• Film eye level
• Pick Musical Theatre selection, not pop, country, etc.
• Be energetic and animated
• Plant your feet, move when necessary to storytelling
• Best lighting possible
• Using a karaoke track is suggested as it helps you stay on pitch, not acapella
• Film waist-up for Musical Theatre Selection
• Film chest-up for Monologue
• Use prop only when absolutely necessary
• Stand, do not sit
• Don’t use an accent
• Use a tripod/table to keep camera still
• Cut beginning and end of video to edit out extra voices and movement
• Dress/hair/makeup should look professional
• Don’t use an overly echoey space like a bathroom or empty, tiled room
• Look just to the left or right of the lens, not directly at the camera and not off to the side
• Don’t choose a song from the show you’re auditioning for
• Choose contrasting Monologue and Song (Dramatic & Comedic)
• Memorize your lines
• Leave some room between you and your background
• Film and upload the best quality video possible
• Ask for help…your family loves you and wants to encourage your dreams
